Please disable any Roger Beeps on radios that have that feature.
If you have a radio that provides Talk Permit and MDC that is okay to use but on PTT Keyup for Talk Permit only and not on the PTT release. Use a MDC ID with your DMR ID number from Radio ID if you have one, and use at least the last 4 numbers. If you do not have Amateur License and do not have a DMR ID just use your zip code.
Please refrain from jargon and 10 Codes, just use plain language / clear text. Just put out your call sign as many times as you like and maybe someone will come back to you. No need to call out for a radio check all the time, just engage in conversation.
Finally, remember to press the PTT transmit a couple seconds before you speak to allow the rise time of PL Tone of the repeater and users listening to decode and open their receiver as it takes one second for this to happen.

Below is some recommendations on some Equipment. We suggest using quality equipment for best performance.
We are not a fan of the cheap Chinese radios like the Boafengs and a few others. There performance varies and you will have better results with better equipment.
We suggest using the brand names for Mobiles and Portables like Motorola, Kenwood, ICOM, Vertex-Yaesu, Harris, CSI and Midland. They are some Wouxun radios that are okay, but you will be much more satisfied with the better built radios that are used commercially.
Remember with the real cheap radios and antennas you get what you pay for.
Appropriate low loss coax and high gain antennas are one of the most important factors with your mobile and fixed base station. RG8X and home brew unity gain antennas don't get it done for range.
